His grace Archbishop Doctor Abune Aregawi, the head of Patriarch’s Special Office and the Department of Foreign Relations and the Archbishop of Djibouti and Dire Dawa Diocese passed away yesterday on March 21, 2023. He was being treated within and outside the country for over a year and a half but was not able to be cured that led to his departure from the exhaustion of this world

According to the information from the office of the Holy Synod, subsequent to his death, his corpse will be brought to Addis Ababa the coming Saturday, March 18, 2023 for his funeral to be held at Menebere Tsebaot Holy Trinity Cathedral Church.

His Grace Archbishop Yohanness, the Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and the head of the theological College of Abune Selama Kesate Birhan in Mekelle Diocese passed away yesterday on February 30, 2023.
His funeral is going to be held in Mekelle, Adwa Debre Hamelemal Abune Afetsi Monastry in the presence of His Holiness Abune Mathias, Archbishops, Patristic Fathers and Laities today on March 1, 2023.

Ethiopian Patriarch His Holiness Abune Mercurius has laid to rest at Holy Trinity Cathedral Church after his death at the age of 84 while receiving treatment at a hospital. The late 4th Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Incarnation Church was buried on March 13, at the funeral ceremony where Patristic Fathers from various countries, government officials, Members of the diplomatic community, Bishops of Coptic Church of Egypt, Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India, Representatives of the Holy See and All Africa Conference of Churches and thousands laities gathered were present. His Holiness Abune Matias, extended his benediction at the funeral ceremony where his life story was read.
