Sermon

Sermon is “The word of God” that teaches His existences, Comportment, Command, Law and Eternity. It is the preaching of the creator who Lived before the creation of the world, sentient now and forever. It is the word of the Almighty, Alpha and Omega. The word of God was first preached in the world of Angel by Saint Gabriel, who foretold the existence of God when enemy Satan denied God as his creator.

Then after, as Prophet David said, “Oh, do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, For we have been brought very low.” (Psalm 79:8), Holy Son came down from heaven to save all imprisoned in enemy’s cell and preached Gospel.

Holy Gospel 

Lord Jesus Christ order Saint Apostles to the peach the Gospel all over the world. “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15) He send them to Jerusalem, In Judea, Jerusalem, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

Gospel which is the word of Lord Jesus Christ, is the revelation of the Holy Son, Him being the light and savior of the world. Saint Paul has said, “we preach Christ crucified.” (I Corinthians 1:23) The apostles preaching begun by teaching the entry to kingdom of heaven by baptism and repentance.

Onwards, Sermon is preached by Patristic Fathers and Priests at congregation in Holy Church or other religious and holy place. In Orthodox Tradition, the homily, or sermon, is an essential part of the Eucharistic Liturgy and takes part in the liturgy’s general sacramental character. Following the proclamation of the Word of God through the words of the Holy Gospel, a liturgical homily is preached.

The Significance of Sermon

As it is teaching of the word of God, first sermon is the way of spreading the Holy Gospel. Lord Jesus taught His holy words to the gentiles who lived at the era of apostasy and alike all human beings shall also learn and acknowledge the word of God after His command to the disciples in preaching the Gospel. Every since their Pilgrimage, the apostles have taught and changed many in to Christianity through Christians baptism and repentance. They have healed leprosies and lames, blinds and embedded impotent. Their word was God’s word and so faith and miracle was reveled through them. They have led on the path of Christianity and craved the way to heavenly kingdom. This was Lord Jesus Christ’s word and endeavor upon His stay on earth teaching His children to live by God’s commandment and law, in Christian life with good endeavors carrying the Holy Cross. This is expected from all in the name of Christian.

Patristic Fathers have continued to spread the Gospel to the world and thus the word of God is known around the world. Even in our days, Holy church teaches the gospel every day. People gathers in their local churches to learn the word of God for they would have salvation. This being the main importance of the Gospel, the sermon we learn specifically helps to learn the following.

It is the study of the study of the nature of God and religious belief.

  • Biblical Theology

It is the Study of the Bible that seeks to discover what the biblical writers, under divine guidance, believed, described, and taught in the context of their own. times.

  • Historical Theology

Historical theology investigates the development of Christian thought in its growth through the centuries since biblical times.

  • Systematic or Dogmatic Theology

Systematic theology articulates the biblical outlook in a current doctrinal or philosophical system.

  • Spiritual Theology

Spiritual theology accentuates living “in the spirit” instead of “in the flesh.” It is concerned with how a person grows and develops spiritually.

  • Practical Theology

Practical theology focuses on pastoral application of biblical truths in modern life.

  1. The Mystery of Trinity

It refers to the existence of one God in three Persons. Holy Trinity a special and unique form of Trinity and it means three in One, One in three.

  • Penumatology

It is the branch of Christian theology concerned with the Holy Spirit.

  1. The Mystery of Christology

It is the concerned with the nature and work of Lord Jesus, including His Incarnation, Resurrection and descending.

  1. The Mystery of Baptism

It is the immersion in a blessed water (in the name of the Holy Trinity).

  1. The Mystery of Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion)

It is a Holy Sacrament by which the believer receives the Holy Body and Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, presented by the Bread and Wine.

It is the Resurrection (rising from the dead) is the Mystery of life after death.

  1. Revelation

The act of disclosing or discovering to others what was before unknown to them; appropriately, the disclosure or communication of truth to men by God himself, or by his authorized agents, the prophets and apostles.

  1. Liturgical Worship

It is the work of worshiping God through the liturgy of Church and Christians Living and Doctrines.

  1. Christian living and Doctrines

It is the endeavors done by Christians by obeying God’s command and law, liturgy and work of worship.

  • Soteriology

Soteriology discusses how Christ’s death secures the salvation of those who believe. It is the doctrines of redemption, justification, sanctification, propitiation, and the substitutionary atonement.

  1. Anthropology

It is the study of humanity including its nature and behavior of man in accordance to his creation through God’ work.

  1. Ecclesiology

Ecclesiology means the doctrine of the church, establishment, ministry, mission, and worship.

Eschatology is the teaching of judgment day and scene of God’s second coming. It is the
