You will see it with your eyes
December 29, 2022
Long ago, there was a great famine in Samaria, dreadful to the extent of tempting a mother to eat her child. Then, there was a man of God named Elisha in this regime and he said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria. So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be? And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” (2 Kings 7:1-2)
It is truly sad! How many times did we wish things but were unable to taste it? We desire things and could not embrace it! We seek but are neglected even for an answer! Many things are furtive in our lives. Brethren, why isn’t our dream our reality? Do you know the reason? Why is your success not reliable? Is it not because you are ungrateful to the Lord? You only see what has been done for you. Why don’t you recognize his virtuous creation? Remember the days where you said “I worked hard and earned it.” On the contrary how many times have you said the Lord did this to me when things do not go as you planned? Who is right? How you ever thanked the creator of all things? Have you ever said the Lord is my helper? Answer this to yourself? Did you build a house? Are your wealthy? Do you boast about it? The bible says “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” (Isaiah 66:1). What if the Lord uses the earth as His footstool? Where will you hide your house? Where will you put your wealth? Even so, what will you do if He asks you to leave the earth? Where will you go? Be wise! You are the Lord’s creation, and so is everything given to you. So why is it hard for you to praise God? Why can’t you listen to the voice of God? Do you think you can rebel against Him and benefit from everything you have?
Is it because you are forgetful? Is it because you heart is occupied with so many things? It is wrong to think this way. When have you ever tried to submit your heart to the Lord? Why do you let you heart wonder around like a vulture? Be cautious! You don’t see it but you are born in Bethlehem where Jesus Christ was born! You belong where in the world of angles! You can praise God uniting with angles. You are from the heavens! Your bread and wine is divine! But go you in search of crumbs. You are far from your heavenly home and from your origin and you still fight to get crumbs of bread. What will your shepherd say when he sees you in the midst of sinners? He will say, “You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!”
Dear Brethren! when are you going to think about death? Is it when you neighbor dies? Or else when? Didn’t you encounter a time where you were concerned about earthly matters, but somebody was buying a coffin for their lost beloved ones? That could have been your coffin; so repent now! Be careful in the paths you choose so that you will not be cursed. Today so many teach saying, “You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!” as Prophet Elisha. We need to listen to the word of God with discernment. Rush in to God’s house but not leave out. If the Lord is not in you and you in him there is no value in life!
Getting back to our topic, the king of Samaria thought he would eat in his castle after the famine but he did in the hands of his servants. He saw it, but you he did not eat any of it! So be aware there are things that you see but do not get to eat! Did you see the wonders God does through people’s life? Prophet David said “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;” (Psalm 34:8) but your ignorance led to your in capability to taste.
Most of all how can we forget it was said “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body. “Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matthew 26: 26-28). But you never got to take communion, you didn’t eat any of it.
Stop resenting God! Seize to live like a hypocrite! Escape from the trail of sinners and live according to God’s will. He is waiting for you every second of your life and for you to taste eternal life.
