Dear Children of God! How are you? How is school and your study? Hope you are doing well being active and attentive at your school. You need to listen to your teacher’s lesson they teach in the classroom and study it when you are home. You must also have a good behavior, be obedient and respect your teachers as well as your elders.
Dear Children! Do you remember our lesson about the seven Archangels? If so, good! Because today we are going to tell you the story of how Saint Gabriel saved the three youths Daniel, Ananias, Azarias and Misael.
Long time ago, there was a cruel King of Babylon called Nebuchadnezzar. He was selecting young men to be instructed in the Chaldean language and wisdom, and dressed them in finery. Handsome children of princely lineage were often chosen to serve as pages in the palace. His order was made for them to be fed delicious food from the king’s table for three years and after they were built up physically and to stand before the King.
King Nebuchadnezzar gave them other names for all including the Prophet Daniel who chosen by God to teach the people. Daniel was renamed Baltasar, Ananias was called Shadrach, Misael was called Mishach, and Azarias was known as Abednego. The three children refused to eat from the king’s table which was meat and all the other delicious food and drinking his wine. Instead, they lived on vegetables, cereals and water.
After this, King Nebuchadnezzar made huge statue to be built in his image and all the people were order to bow for it. It was decreed that when people heard the sound of trumpets and other instruments, they should fall down and worship the golden idol. But the three holy youths Ananias, Azarias and Misael refused to do this. So the King order for them to be thrown to a fire. But the holy youths walked in the midst of the flames, offering prayer and praise to God (Daniel 3:26-90).Just then Saint Gabriel appeared in the furnace and cooled the flames. The young men remained unharmed.
Dear Children of God! What do you learn from the story of these youths? We learn how faith in God saves us from any harm that we face in our lives. As Prophet David in his Psalm said, “The Angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them” (Psalm 34:7)
We know the value of being strong and diligent (hard work) with good behavior and obedience. So children, you shall always have faith in God, be obedient to His words and commandment and be strong even at difficult times. Ok, good!
Farwell children, may God grants His mercy and peace to all of us; amen!
