“In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord” (Psalm 772)

Seeking safety, as humans we urge for our creator. Every day, life fills us in much desire and thoughts of our tomorrow. Though enemy Satan strives hard to pull us down, faith and hope becomes our strength. Struggling to survive on this vain world, we endure much pain and sorrow facing troublesome.

It’s inopportune how humans fail to be servile for the LORD, preferring to comfort the corporeal over pure soul and being worldly than spiritual. Sin brings shame on their nature imprisoning and blinding their conscious mind. Dragging and burying them under, devilish humans they become. Tempting to provide safety and everlasting happiness, devil consumes and enters them through their weak side. Demon fills evil spirit in them, for they would be unable to seek salvation. They keep grieving GOD and lose their way back to him. As the numbers of sinners grew the more sinful and satanic earth became; Alike the prophecy stated, during these generations, war and famine will transpire. “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” (Matthew 24:7)

Plagues are what the world is enduring of which GOD’s anger is witnessed. His rage over his lenience, earth got filled with fear and anxiety where mortals cared to acknowledge the existences of him. Even those relying on their wealth or scientific knowledge fearing of what is yet to come, if no medicine for the new deadly virus Corona is found, have begun to crave him.

Every human, in any difficulty or life and death situation, remembers to call the name of his creator, GOD; pleading for mercy. This is probably the sensitive and crucial period for humans to repent for their sin bringing all the torment on our body and anguish on our soul.

Mankinds suffering for his deed necessitate pleading just as Prophet David, “In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.” (Psalm 77፡2)

Saint David’s Holy words clarify how being second creations succeeding the angels, is in our nature to serve the LORD and feed our soul the heave of heaven preserving it from starvation; hence chastity is of the essence.

The Earth has become full of gentiles living hopeless, in despair and hatred. When Adam was sent out of heaven, GOD said to him, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you not eat from it, “Cursed is the ground because of you;  through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.” (Genesis 3:17).

These days where conflicts and clashes are surfacing is the result of our sin. Written on Genesis, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers: he will crush your head and you will strike his heel,” GOD’s judgment on Adam and Eve is what we are witnessing. (Genesis 3:15)

Many lives have been lost due to this contagious virus Corona. Neither Doctors nor scientists are able to find medicine for the cure of those infected patients. Though they have been treating and spared some of them, still the virus has spread from China to America, Italy, Russia alike European countries and other African countries like Cameroon, Gambia, Djibouti, Zambia, Mauritius, Chad, Niger including our country Ethiopia.

Reports are showing the increment of the infected patients as the days goes by; of which four people have died while over one hundred sixty people are infected by the virus. But, more than seventy patients  have recovered.

Public areas have seen some changes where citizens are focusing on keeping distances on Bus and Taxi stations in preserving themselves from it. Organizations have decreased the number of employer’s presences to preserve the spread of the virus. Above all, the numbers of laities on church has decreased. After the announcement of the clergy, only those who come for the oblation are allowed to enter the Holy Temple; few numbers of them are being permitted to the Holy Church compound. This has arisen some conflicts between governments and laities where they were denied their rights of worship. Some have even been brutally treated and neglected. These hard times are historically repeated in the Ethiopian Church history where laities sacrificed for their faith and religion.

GOD is everywhere and if we our mind and hearts seeks him, he will hear our prayers. Let’s ask for his forgiveness, mercy and return to our human soul. Let’s love, and care for one another; let’s abide by GOD’s rule so for him to embraces us with wide arm.

May God have mercy on us!
