Dear Children of God, how are you? How is the fasting season? Children, fasting is not to consume (eat) food and drink beverages (liquids) for a given period of time. Fasting is the key to heaven and the initiation of righteousness.
Dear Children of God, when we fast it shall be with prayer, prostration (bowing) and attending Divine Liturgy. We must not also forget to attend the school education and be brave student. Ok, good. Children, for this lesson, we will teach you about Holy Gospel.
Children, Holy Gospel is the word of God written in the Holy Bible. Before we tell you about it in detail, let us see a bit about the Holy book the Bible. Holy Bible is the book written about on the Old Testament and New Testament. God gave the chosen people wisdom and discern for them to write the Holy Bible.
Children, in the holy book, it written about how God created the world and all the living creatures in it, about the creation of Angels and humans as well as His mercy upon His children save guarding us from harm and provides what is relevant.
Dear Children of God, there are many written books in this world. However, lots have been forgotten. When generations passed on, the old books get forgotten and the new ones are written. But, the Holy Bible exists from many years and shall live on for the future also as is it the word of God and ordered to be written.
Dear Children of God, Holy Bible is a sacred, Honored and Holy book. It written by His revelation for the wise that talks about His coming for the salvation of the world, His revelation as a human to be born from Holy Mother Virgin Saint Mary and His work of salvation by His crucifixion. Since God chose the Saints and wrote the Holy Bible, all those who read and listen to it, will be blessed and thus it called ‘Holy Bible.’ So now, we will see the second part of this holy book written in the new testament, ‘The Holy Gospel.’
Gospel means, ‘is good and new news, pleasant, sermon and divine and heavenly thing.’ In this section of the Holy bible, a good and pleasant thing is written. In the new testament, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ have preached about the Holy Gospel. Then after, He has told the Saint Apostles that “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
Dear Children of God, gospel is what the apostles wrote in the new testament. This section of the Holy Bible, tell us about the fulfillment of the vow of God for the salvation of human beings after Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and were sent out of heaven. Thus, to tell about the love revealed upon the cross, He told the apostles to wrote the gospel.
Our father Saint Apostles wrote the gospel, to talk about the liberty of mankind from slavery not only to for the salvation but also to be called the children of God. The apostles wrote the Holy Bible for the sermon that our Lord Jesus taught and His favor and love for us to be transferred to the coming generation. Gospel leads us to holy life and preach about the marvelous work of God.
Dear Children of God, when we read the Holy Bible, our life will be blessed. We commemorate the work of God. Gospel teach us about to be protected from bad deed, to do good for other people and to love one another. But when we read other books, they teach us only about earthly things. Holy Bible though is the word of God that teaches us about spiritual life that bestow us eternity. Do you see children! The book that gives blessing in worldly and heavenly life as well is Holy Bible. So it shall be in every Christians house.
Dear Children of God, let me ask you! How many times have you read Holy Bible? It is a sacred, Honored and Holy so, we must keep in Honor and sacred place. When we read Holy Bible, it must not be only to know it but apply it in our lives. Then, we will inherit the Kingdom of God.
May God bestow us wisdom to read the Holy Bible and be blessed by it, Amen!
