Good Governance and Church
3. The Lack of Good Governance in Church
Dear Family of God, how are you? How was the last week? May we remind you about last lesson which was “The Cause for the lack of good governance.” On this section, we will see the second part.
Sixth:- The Priority Given to the Monks instead of Priests within the constitution of the Church
This system has enhanced the appliers of appointees, the sacred of place for monasticism, Monks with the love of power (authority) which are drawn to embezzlement and be led to Simonism in Church.
Simonism is the attempt to buy the grace of God with money. (Acts 8:9) Many have risen in the Papacy and Priesthood to be appointed offending the politics, raise the agenda of racism, commit corruption, mediate with brokers, suing brothers and spiritual children whom they fear are hurdle for the appointment.
It is affirmed that on “Justice of the Kings/ Fitha Negest” about Monks whom are forbidden to desire authority. As it is stated, “Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” (Matthew 19:21)
Listening to the Lord’s word in gospel, desire to be perfect and live monastic life, it has made a man whom is not avowed as one unable to manage his household patiently, to disempower monks who chose monasticism in becoming earthly angle and heavenly man, through the appointment of experts on fiancé and possession, those who live monastic life, to fail on trails. (The Law of Kings Chapter 10)
Seventh:- The Uneducated Actions taken on leaders and servile creating the problem
Due to the case regarding the defiant of the church’s canon, constitutional tribulations, commit treachery on the wealth and possessions of the Church, disappointment laities, made priests crier, encounter high limitations of disciplines, lack of management, laities’ complaint on them, but then resolution or action is taken on them.
Additionally, it led to appointing thieves who committed high theft on higher level of wealth which resulted for the continual of their failure, laities to be abashed, when they are harmful, they set out of their faith and priests to be abashed and utter saying, “There is no justice.” This problem is not only limited on leader’s parishes or principalities. Now a day, this is reflected on Archbishops as well. The Plenary Meeting of the Holy Synod, held on the complaints and laities’, Sunday school students’ and priest’s parade, is the illustration of this problem.
Eighth:- Non consideration of Church as a Minster
The Church might be a place for daily bread for some. Nonetheless, she is the sacred place or Minister. Even though the Lord has said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer,” many see her as a business center and office. (Matthew 21:13) Considering the Church as a working place but not as a spiritual service by hired service is reflected.
Many serve not for embracing heavenly virtue or celestial value, but because just as a work, affecting the service and be filled with crowd, shove and without the fear of God. The need of fulfilling only worldly benefits has without a doubt created the lack of good governance.
Ninth:- The dilapidation of Spiritual Life
The notched servile is one of the cause for the lack of good governance. Now a day, which is reflected on some servile, is an act of ill-mannered and unspiritual act. The Apostle Paul said, “we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4) It is assumed these kinds of servile engender problems on Church leaders and the institution they lead.
3.1. The Damage created by Lack of Good Governance
Lack of good governance has created huge damage. Many of us agree on this notion.
First: – Primarily to be mentioned, is the influence it has on laities’ attendance on the Church. It has made them weak in the spiritual life.
Second:- is the dilapidation it created on Monastic and Traditional Schools. Many Monasteries lack basic services materials and monastic life’s ration. To resolve this, they enter the city. There are many who have lost in cities. The teachers of traditional schools seized to teach their students. And when unable to cope up in the worldly life, is likely to be exposed to the scam of heresies. Their children are to be set out to be a lottery seller or else pressured to other labor works.
Third:- It has created lack of servile on rural areas Churches. The absence of Priests, Deacons and Teachers are on all the Churches of rural areas. We might think most of the scarcity has occurred in the south and west, however, this is far from the truth. The northern part of the country which is the source of many servile, are places where Sunday’s Divine Liturgy is not performance.
Fourth:- Laities are left without shepherd. Those who crave for gospels, baptism, Holy Communion, empathy on their misery, teacher, advisor, shepherd, guardian, are numerous. The wealth and servile gathered, is greater than the city. Prophet Isaiah said, “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” says your God.” (Isaiah 40:1) These days, people who are suffering, a servile who sympathize those in trails, teach, advise and share their problem, are only few.
Many of them are fleeing to the city. Saint Paul in his epistle to the romans said, “But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.” (Romans 15:25) If there was centralized preservation and liable system, the expansion of the problem might not have been seen this visibly. The unjust distribution of wealth, human resources and centralized protection liability are the main problem.
Fifth: – It has exposed it to external parties’ critics and interference
It has exposed the Church to be perturbed and the topic for debate, unlawful in fulfilling their mission unanimously and the governor interference which is the result of lack of good governance.
Sixth:- It has deprived the priesthood and the honor of the Holy Synod.
The problem in the good governance is the outcome of decrement of priesthood, disrepute on patristic fathers, unfulfillment of pronouncements.
Seventh:- Created Separation of Employees and Work
Lack of good governance has resulted by Church children who are cognizant, careful, professional and spiritual.
Eighth: – It has created separation of leaders from believers
It has become the reason for patristics father’s relationship with their believers, filled with dishonesty, sinful, unwillingness to be led by priests of whom one’s own heart is out of their conscience.
Ninth:- It has made church receiver
All raise the agenda on the Church, including the governor which has imprisoned her to be captive on the agenda. The major and great mission of the Church is to create a good governance. Therefore, resolving these kinds of problems has benefit.
Dear brethren, we end this topic for now but will return to the last part of it next time. Have a good week!
