Feast of Archangel Saint Uriel
January 28, 2022
The Archangel Saint Uriel is often portrayed by the angel of light and peace as his name means “God is my light” or “Fire of God.” Saint Uriel shines the light of God’s truth in a dark world. His feast day of designation is on January 30.
Saint Uriel is the angel of domination over thunder flood and lightening. It is this angel who leads the soldiers of light of sun, moon and stars. He is who revealed the wisdom and mystery of heaven and to prophet Enoch. (Enoch 6:1-6)
When Lord Jesus Christ was crucified as the redeemer of the world, it was he who received His precious blood in the cup of light and sprayed it over the world. Saint Uriel is also the one who lead Holy mother Saint Mary and her baby Lord Jesus during her exodus to Egypt and Ethiopia. Furthermore, whilst God rained mercy upon on earth
It was Saint Uriel who gave the cup of wisdom to Prophet Ezra Sutuel and to the Ethiopian Patristic Father Abba Giorgis Zagascha of whom the heavenly mystery and knowledge was hidden from but revealed by the command of Holy Mother Saint Virgin Mary.
Most of the Holy Monasteries in our country Ethiopia were built under the leadership of Saint Uriel who prayed for mercy from our Lord to grow crops within the rain and the sun for food.
The Holy angel is intermediator between God and mankind to protect and guide us and carryout God’s tasks. According to Holy Orthodox Incarnation Church teaching, Saint Uriel amongst the seven Archangels commemorated on January 30.
May his intercession be with us, Amen!
