Soldiers of God

Christians are God’s soldiers along with Saint Angels. Beginning the creation of the world, Mankind was intended to live for the Glory of God in worship severing his Lord. The work of God being all in intent, His will in the creation of man is as similar as Saint Angles.
Though the days of happiness in the Heaven ended whilst Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit leading to their obscenity, man was yet again offered redemption and life in heaven through the covenant of Mercy, our Holy Mother Saint Mary.
Adam’s life on earth was full of sorrow and pain before that, since the curse was upon him. He lived in misery thinking about and regretting his sin. It was then he was promised eternal life. With this span and the life path established by Our Lord and Jesus Christ’s, as Christians we shall carry the cross facing all the obstacles and misery in life, fighting our enemy Satan and his followers.
Christianity is life of battle as we fight against evils in satanic world. Therefore, we shall fight all the challenges in our daily life, be it eternal or eternal. We may have problems in our house, work place and in Local Holy Churches during our spiritual services. But, it is vital to stay strong and face all predicaments without fear. As it is written in the Holy Bible ‘’do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army; for the battle is not yours but God’s. (2 Chronicles 20:15)
The power of God will be upon us for we win our battle in life if our strength is based on our spirituality. Then faithful Christians are considered to be soldiers of God as His words thought us Faith, prayer and the Word of God are his weapons of warfare. It is in-scripted as “for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” and also “For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword” in the Holy bible. (2 Corinthians 10:4, Hebrew 12:4)
It is well known that onwards Satan failure, many have fallen along with evil spirits and demons. They have surrendered for worldly needs disregarding their soul. It is for this reason that we necessitate to fight our bodily desire and nourish our soul with God’s words and good deeds.
According to Pope Shenuda III in his book the “Diabolic Wars” there are three types of Spiritual war.
- The case of one whom the devil fights lightly or heavily.
- A person fought by his own, desires or his own thoughts or by the habits, dominating him.
- A person fought by false brethren, wicked people or we call supporters of the devil or ‘’the devil’s powers’’
Upon the recognition of these wars, we ought to battle for our soul and endure all the pain, agony and barriers of life. We must fight gravel and to have faith in the true life of Christianity and the right path. It is said, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James.4:7)
We can win the battle,
- By realizing the battle is not our, but God’s.
- By recognizing human limitations and allowing God’s strength to work through our fears and weaknesses.
- By making sure we are pursuing God’s interests and not just our own selfish desire.
- By asking God for help in our daily battles.
As Prophet David advised us saying “Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle,” if we are diligently Christian, no matter how powerful our enemy is, we have to believe that God will save us. (Psalm 144:1)
Moreover, it is necessary to remember the following words of Lord Jesus Christ; ‘’To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.’’ (Revelation 3:21) “None shall be crowned except the one who conquers, and none shall conquer except the one who fights.’’
In our spiritual battle, we need God’s power to defeat evil. With the believe of Satan defeat upon the Holy Cross by Lord Christ at the day of Crucifixion, we shall be redeemed as well triumphed. So, as Soldiers of God, we shall stand by Him, through obedience, praising His name, building His kingdom press toward the goal and the heavenly Victory.
