Prophets

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is school and spiritual life? How are you doing at your school and home with your family? Are you attending Churches at holidays and on Sabbath (Saturdays and Sundays)? How are you spending your leisure (free) time? Hope you are using them for valuable things such as reading, studying, helping your parents as well as your elderlies. Children, it also important to help poor and elderly people around the Churches and on the streets by feeding and clothing them. Then, God will also be happy about us and we would become His children. Ok, good!

Children, today we will teach you about Prophets who are servants of God. Prophet is “a person who conveys messages from the God to people, including occasionally foretelling future events.” We call the male “Prophet” and the female “Prophetess.” They have the power of Holy Spirit upon themselves that makes them speak the word of God and foretell (tell) the future (what comes another day, month or year/years).

The Liturgy of Prayer

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is life and school? How are you doing in your education? Are you studying well and getting good grades? How about house chores? Are you helping your families by obeying their house rule? Hope you have become an obedient child to your families and God more than anything.

Children, we hope you remember our last lesson about prayer because today we have presented to you the second part. We will see the seven times of prayer which are Prime, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers/Compline/, Bed time and Midnight.

The Liturgy of Prayer

Dear Children of God, how have you been? How are your families, friends and School? Are you doing well in your education this year? We hope you have got all the good grades and be rewarded. Children, we have been telling you all along about the importance of education in particular to the Church teachings that guides your spiritual life. Therefore, it is better for you to learn beginning your childhood until you become mature and even at old ages. Since our spiritual life is eternal, we shall always be ready to hear, read and understand the word of God.

Dear Children of God, you remember our last lesson right? It was about the “Liturgy of Fasting.” Now, we will teach you about “The Liturgy of Prayer.”

The Liturgy of Fasting

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is the new year and school? We hope you are attending your lessons attentively in this new year and studying well. It is also important to ask you teachers what you do not understand and something that is not clear for you. If not, you would not be able to pass your exams or else get good mark. You shall attend the church education as well, so that you could be a good, brave and generous child of God.

Dear Children of God, this season is known as “The Month of flowers.” We commemorate our Holy Mother Saint Mary, her beloved Son, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and their flight to Egypt and Ethiopia in escape of King Herold who was trying to kill baby Jesus, out of fear of Him reigning as a King.

Children, we hope you remember our last lesson on the celebration of Feasts! And for now we will teach you about “The Liturgy of Fasting.”

The Celebration of Church Feasts

Dear Children of God, how are you? How was the celebration of New year holiday feast? Hope you have spent it with joy and happiness with your family and beloved ones! Are you getting ready for the new year education? Those who have got poor grades must study much for the better result in this year for the success of your future and contentment (happiness) of your family.

Dear Children of God, you might remember our last year’s lessons on different issues and acquired some knowledge. And for now, we will teach you about the celebrations of Church Feasts and our role in them.

The Month of Pagumen

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is the season of winter? How are you spending it so far? Are you using your time properly? What have you done so far? Have you fasted the fast of Assumption of Saint Mary? Have been going to Churches with your families on Sabbath (Saturday and Sunday? Have you read spiritual books? Are you helping your parents with house chorus (house work) in your break time? Children, these are all the important things you shall do at home in winter season.

Children, today we will teach you about the thirteenth month of our country, “The Month of Pagumen.” The word Pagumen comes from a Greek word called “Apagumen” which means “addition or increment.”

The Fast of Saint Mary

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is the winter season with your family, relatives and friends? Time is valuable and we should schedule it in the right manner. We must use the winter season properly knowing the important things for our spiritual life. Do you know the other important thing we can do in this winter? It is to fast “The Fast of Saint Mary.”

Saint Ephraim the Syrian

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is summer season? Are you spending your break time properly? Hope you are using your time effectively programming it wisely for your prayer, Church attendance, reading, playing and also helping you parents with house chorus. Ok, good! Dear Children, today we will tell you a story about Saint Ephraim the Syrian.

The Season of Winter

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is life with your family and your friends? Are you helping your parents with house chorus (house work) in your break time? Children, as we frequently told you, it is important to understand Christian discipline. As the commandment of God says, “Honor your father and mother” that is to obey their rule in the house and elsewhere. (Exodus 20:12)

Children, today we will teach you about the winter season so follow us attentively. There are four kinds of seasons in our country. The first one is spring, the second is summer, the third is autumn and the fourth is winter. We are now in the fourth season which is the rainy season, winter.

Holy Gospel

Dear Children of God, how are you? How is the fasting season? Children, fasting is not to consume (eat) food and drink beverages (liquids) for a given period of time. Fasting is the key to heaven and the initiation of righteousness.

Dear Children of God, when we fast it shall be with prayer, prostration (bowing) and attending Divine Liturgy. We must not also forget to attend the school education and be brave student. Ok, good! Children, for this lesson, we will teach you about Holy Gospel.
