The Intercession of Holy Mother Saint Mary
The blessed from all saints, whom is above all creature including the Angels, pure and virgin Holy Mother of God Saint Mary, is the hope of human race. She was in the will of God before the creation of this world. After the fall of Adam and Eve when eating the forbidden fruit, death came upon mankind and was punished earthly. But for His mercy is tremendous, He vowed to save Him through his root. It is this word of God done through the virgin Mary through the miraculous work of birth of the Holy Son to save us by crucifixion. Her purity and holiness has bestowed us salvation for she become the mother of God and His work of redemption.
Holy Mother Saint Mary pleads God for mercy and salvation through her intercession. Her prayer is what we hope for and seek in going to heaven. “Orthodox Christians from the beginnings of the early church until this day ask for not only the intercessions of Saint Mary, but of all the saints. We have a special regard for the intercession of Mary because not only is Mary the Mother of God, she is the Queen of Heaven.” (Homily on “The Orthodox Faith; /intercession of Mary/”)
It is in scripted in the bible as, “So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him on behalf of Adonijah. And the king rose to meet her and bowed down to her. Then he sat on his throne and had a seat brought for the king’s mother, and she sat on his right. Then she said, “I have one small request to make of you; do not refuse me.” And the king said to her, “Make your request, my mother, for I will not refuse you.” (1 Kings 2:19-20)
“The intercession of the Virgin, the Mother of Light, is an expression of her motherhood towards us. When we salute the Ever-Virgin, the one full of glory, the Mother of God, and Mother of Christ, we call her, “the saint, and the faithful intercessor of mankind.” We call her “the trustworthy saint in front of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Our mother the Virgin is the faithful and trustworthy intercessor. With confidence and strong faith, we call unto her saying, “lift up our prayers to your Beloved Son that He may forgive us our sins…Ask the Lord on our behalf to have mercy on our souls… Intercede for in front of Christ.” (Homily on “Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Los Angeles Southern California and Hawaii. /The Holy Virgin Saint Mary/”)
The foremost story to be mentioned here is the wedding of Cana of Galilee. Our Holy Mother Saint Mary’s intercession was revealed for all those present at the wedding and for us all Christians as well. She intercedes at the wedding at Cana when they run of wine. “On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come. His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b] Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” (John 2:1–10)
Another remarkable story illustrating the intercession of our Holy Mother’s kindheartedness is of Simon who first was diligent Christians serving God and commemorating Saint Mary but later on turned and poisoned by the enemy Satan to lead sinful life. He use to serve guests in his house nurturing and accommodating them but was misled to eat people fleshes for survival. The devil changed him into eating 78 people. When he meets people anywhere, he kills and eat them
But then one day, whilst he was walking near the sea, he found a beggar calling Saint Mary’s name. He pleaded Simon as well for water. First Simon refused but when he heard Holy Mother’s name, he reminds himself saying “I know this name.” So, he poured in his pow and watered him and left. After that he regretted every life he took and with sorrow and grief, he remained without food and water for three days. He then died and faced judgment in front of the Lord.
The Angel of death claimed his soul but Saint Mary came to save him recalling the commemoration and the water he gave to the beggar. With that, the Lord had mercy on him and so Simon entered heaven.
Dear brethren, it is so vital to have faith on the intercession of our Holy Mother Saint Mary for our salvation for she is the Mother of God. He prayer changes our destiny for the better and inherit us heaven. She is pure and kind as the dove and merciful as no mother could ever be. Her aches and cries for us human soul for we could be saved from eternal fire. She begs for every person calling her name and seeking her intercession. She will to save all if it is will of the Lord as well. She is the mother of all and we shall love and praise her.
May our Holy Mother Saint Mary’s intercession be with us, Amen!
