The literary definition of the term lightning is “A sudden discharge of electricity from a cloud to the earth, or from the earth to a cloud, or from one cloud to another that is, from a body positively charged to one negatively charged, producing a vivid flash of light, and usually a loud report, called thunder. Sometimes lightning is a mere instantaneous flash of light without thunder, as heat-lightning, lightning seen by reflection, the flash being beyond the limits of our horizon.” (King James Dictionary)
The winter season where the sky is covered with clouds and the rain pours down on earth, lightening occurs. According to the prophet Jeremiah, God, “When He utters His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries.” (Jeremiah 10:13)
People have a distorted view of lightning. Some think that lightning is an expression of God’s wrath; others believe that it is the result of rain. God created lightning for the benefit of mankind. As the Prophet Enoch said, “After this, all the mysteries of light and blessing were revealed to me” there are many types of lightning. (Enoch 15:44)
A lightning occurs suddenly between clouds which is seen in the sky. Sometimes lightning, has a form like a branches of tress whereas other times it fills the cloud it flashes the cloud to cloud at the same time. Rarely, lightning occurs when there is no rain. When lightning strikes, the temperature is 30,000 ° C; so it can kill people. As a result, most of us think that lightning strikes in the sky as deadly, caustic and vicious.
But that is not the truth. As the prophet Enoch said, “They shine for blessing and fulfillment of light.” Plants bear fruit with lighting and are fed not only by humans but also by animals. (Enoch 15:45)
The Prophet Enoch said that even if lightning is a curse, “And in those days they saw the secret of blessing, and the brightness of the light, and the judgment: spirits shine for blessings and curses as the Lord wills.” This means that when there is a lightning strike, people should be on the lookout; they must run into our house, because the flash can kill them. (Enoch 15:39-40)
We should not stand under a tree when lightning strikes, Because of its gravitational pull, the light attract the earth and its surroundings; and when it falls, it’s strength is doubled. Therefore, care must be taken to avoid lightning strikes and we must not lie down or stand up in the lightning; we must be careful that our bodies do not touch the ground.
We might know lightning has stroked us when our body shivers and our hair erects; especially foreigners hair erects when they are struck by lightning.
May God’ safeguards us, Amen!
