Imprisonment

Humans have encountered imprisonment for many things in life. Some were sent to prison for their theft, corruption, or murdering; others for abduction or assault; there might be those who have also committed national crimes as domestic violence or massacre killing. These are all crimes that lead to imprisonment and severe punishment.

People suffer much in prison not only whilst their physical is captivated but also bare mental imprisonment. This is the main reason for prisoners to spend their jail time in resentment, regret and sorrow. In a prison where people are physically imprisoned, there is not freedom. Every action of prisoners is barred and their entire body and mentality is limited in place and situation.

There is no comfort in prison or living in one’s own will. But Torture and lethargy are its main characteristics. People are not even permitted to say what their heart desires. The same things we see constantly create exhaustion. Prisoners are forced to see, hear and read what they are ordered to.

Some studies and reports reveal about the effect of prisons on people’s health as blood pressure, gastric, mental disorder and as such due to the severe distress and depression. The loss of patience and self of control leading to our conviction of mistakes and crimes costs us dearly. Unfortunate though for those who are innocent without committing any crime baring much pain and suffering.

Moreover, those victims convicted by the scams and tricks of false witnesses are not few. The Apostle Saint Peter have talked about these people: “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:15-17)

Holy Bible tells us about the convicted prisoners without their sin. The case of Saint Joseph’s conviction of an attempt to rape the wife of Potiphar is to be mentioned here. He was sent to prison for refusing to lay in bed with his master’s wife. She convicted him by lying of bedding her.   (Genesis 39:1-15)   Holy Scriptures have told us about many saints who are imprisoned for the truth they know and being witness of Christ. They have been bitten and tortured. The Apostle Saint Paul have explained as follows; “Still others had trial of mocking and scourging’s, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.” (Hebrew 11:36)

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ have also been imprisoned by the Jews as scripted “And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.” (Matthew 27:2) The holy apostles have been imprisoned for witnessing about Lord Jesus Christ being God and for healing the sick and defending the truth. (Acts 12:5, 16:23)

The hagiography of our forefathers have told us about saints, righteous fathers and mothers who have been sent to prison and suffered severely. Many have been accused falsely, bogus witnessed and due to unfair trail/ judgment. But after many painful and exhausting years in prison, are set be free. When people are imprisoned, it not just their physical but their knowledge, wisdom and time (age) that is chained. If parents are imprisoned, their offspring’s are likely to be affected. When youngsters are sent to jail, parents are left to be solo without any one to nurture them. They live also in sorrow in their old age.

The maundering of relatives is not to be seen lightly. Real people go to prison for a crime they have not committed., though truth is not changed. Truth sets people free when we repent. But if not, we live trapped in sin. It is likely to be prisoned if we live in sin; also might be punished to death.  There are some people who have told the truth and stand for the truth but flee out of fear and who have not bare the pain as the prisoners in jail; but still it is hurtful by itself to be apart from families, the society and from one’s country as well.

The Holy Bible teaches about sinner who loses their freedom. When we disappoint God by sinning and evil deed, we become prisoners.  Saint Peter said, “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.” (2 Peter 2:19) If you are to be defeated by alcoholism, you are to be prisoner of alcoholism; if you are gossipers and create rumors, you will be prisoner of them. If your relatives, tribes, wealth and pride is better than God for you, you are to be the prisoner of them. Any sinful acts that are not cleansed with repentance, will imprison you. Thus, you shall be careful about your harmful deed and mistakes within your life for they would be prison you.

The main reason for mental disorder is the mistake that people created due to the negligence and running of reputation. Medical professionals call the thinking of their mistakes and prisoned by it an “obsession.” This created depression and more over metal disorder. So what is the medication for this? It is repentance. Our mind will be renewed when we repent and we become free from blame and conviction of mind. Our previous mistakes are to teach us but not to complain.

Instead of observing harmful talk of people, evaluating, insult and gossip, you shall look up to the Lord who is merciful, kind and generous. It is important to know God looks in to you and seek you and you shall search for Him. Plead Him for all the things that bother you and bring misery in your life.  As Prophet David said, “for our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name,” we shall rejoice by God. (Psalm 31:21)

May God have mercy on us, Amen!
