Feasts of Circumcision
It was in the Old Testament that circumcision started by our Father Abraham. God’s pupil who lived back then were differentiated from gentiles and endowed honor by the Liturgy of Circumcision. That was like baptism for them. (Leviticus 12:3)
The Holy Gospel has described about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s Circumcision in the New Testament. “When eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, His name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before He was conceived in the womb. When the days of her purification according to the Law of Moses were accomplished, they brought Him to Jerusalem, to present Him to the Lord; As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that open the womb shall be called holy to the Lord.” (Luke 2:21-23) Our Lord made the Liturgy of Circumcision on the eight day of His birth from our Holy Mother Saint Virgin Mary.
It is improbable to hinder the foretelling of the Lord’s miraculous work. The blessed and holiday of His Circumcision on Tir 6 is a feast we shall celebrate every year accord the Church’s Order, the first amongst the nine minor feasts of Our Lord. As our Lord made the Liturgy, eight years old boys must also be circumcised.
