“There are many who say, who will show us any good?” (Psalm 4:6)
It seems as the Prophet David said these words for those who reached up to the harsh and hard time, seeking for the good rather than the bad; not the crooked but the straight; the light other than the dark; the confused pupil craving for a teacher. Perhaps the Prophet: –
- For he is prophet, maybe he foretold about what we have encountered; and then prophesied about our life, seeking one who speak, do and bring forth the good for many of us.
In our generation, many are confused. They have lost the good way. They shout saying “who will show us any good” craving in sorrow the restful and peaceful better days.
So, what do we mean by good? The Amharic Dictionary refers it to “any nice work.” It also further explains it as “what is found inside believers; endowed by Holy Spirt; it is what they use to prove them being children of God. Moreover, it states God is the origin of goodness.”
Goodness or good thing is from Holy Spirt. If it is said goodness is found within believer’s life, how many of us known believers have goodness? Whom do we show our goodness to? If we have goodness, why did the religious, social, political and economic problems occur? Why do we not have a concerned body who is responsible to receive and provide solution? There are many who ask these kinds of questions but unable to find solution.
It is everyone’s responsibility to show goodness. However, leaders chosen for this deed are the main ones. When we say leaders, they are of many types. For example, we can mention family leaders, community leaders, country leaders as well as religious leaders.
What is worse than anything is the existence of leaders “those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” (Galatians 5:24) For this reason “There are many who say, who will show us any good?” (Psalm 4:6)
We need a discussion panel in search of and meeting good teachers, religious fathers, parents and elders. As Prophet David, “He shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands,” it is necessary to bring forth a resultative notion in appointing leaders who are wise, good and truthful. (Psalm 78:72)
People generate leader, and leader make people; thus, whilst we give out solution, it must not be my complaint, with distress and resentment but by the will, enthusiasm and firmness, for we shall make good, resilient and real leader. We shall be diligent to make good family leader; a community leader that are accepted by the society; who is against racism, bias, servile but not ministered; with the ability to lead a country.
More than anything, a religious leader who we rely on for the salvation of our soul; who we follow until death; is a ladder to the mountain; the key to the door of righteousness; a light to the darkness; blessing to the earth; an entrance to Kingdom of God; showing us goodness in diligence, payer and fight.
Saint Paul the Apostle has told the King and Archbishop to diligently pray in shepherding the flock; To preserve the herd and not to be negligent towards God’s supplement. The apostle told them to keep the Lord’s order in informing them about the spiritual and corporeal authority that is endowed from God; As well as of its aim in leading the pupil, preserve and serve them.
This is the result of God choosing a King upon the worldly justice, preservation and supplement whereas Archbishops for the spiritual justice, preservation and supplement. And if they neglect these orders, they will be put to trail.
Beloveds, voices uttering, “who will show us any good” have become many, since we seek worldly and spiritual leaders. Therefore, let us pray to be given a good leader; deliberate to bring him forth and diligently witness goodness!
Glory to God!
