Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Irinej, has died of Corona Virus
Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Abune Irinej, has died after being tested positive for the Corona Virus.
After being diagnosed with Corona virus since November 7, he has been receiving medical treatment at Belgrade, a military medical center in Serbia.
His Beatitude, Irinej, was born on August 28, 1930, in Serbia Vidoka. After completing his Primary and Secondary education, he entered the Theological Seminary in 1999 and graduated from Belgrade Theological Seminary. Later on, he was ordained as Bishop of Maravika on July 10, 2010, while living as a Monk at the Rabvika Monastery.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Archbishop of Niece and Peck and as a Metropolitan of Belgrade, and was ordained by the Holy Synod as Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church after the Death of Patriarch Paul.
His Holiness Abune Irinej I, the Patriarch of the Church of Serbia, died on November 20, 2020, after being treated for Corona, according to Serbian President Alexander Puchic.
