“He went into their synagogue” (Matthew 12:9)

The third week of “The Great Lent” is known as “Synagogue” according to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church education. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ entered to this synagogue, which served as the temple of Jews. Whilst in His teaching age in Jerusalem, there were synagogues in which the apostles also thought the gospel.

On the Sabbath known as “synagogue”, Our Lord rebuked the changers, threw out those who made the temple cattle drive and sells of gold along their things. It is stated in the gospel of John as, “He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business. When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables.” (John 2:14-15)

He also thought them saying “my house is a prayer place;” but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.” (Luke 19:46) The hymn of Saint Jared for this Sabbath, all the lyrics, songs and readings are correlated with our Lord’s teachings, preaching and miracles.
