Why did Prophets fast?
All the human race sinfully caved for 5500 in agony and rut in calamity, hoped for the covenant of The Son of The Holy Father, The Holy Son, vowed to Adam to come to this world in saving Him. The Prophet foretold about the fulfillment of this prophecy.
They seized not prophesying The Lord to be born from Holy Mother Saint Virgin Mary, His flight to Egypt, baptism in Jordan River, illuminating the darkened world by the light of gospel, suffering in Calvary and crucifixion for the salvation of us, resurrection, ascension, second coming.
Whilst Prophet David said, “Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me” (Psalm 144:7-8), Prophet Isiah has confirmed saying, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” (Isiah 7:14) By the hope of this word, the prophet has fasted.
The fast of the prophets begins from Hidar 15 and lasts for 43 days, ending on the birth day of Lord Jesus Christ. Laities of the Old Testament and New Testament have fasted it. We shall also fast in the hope of salvation, seeking mercy and benevolence from the Lord from all the recent quandaries.
May the Lord’s mercy, Saint Mary’s and Prophets prayer, intercession and mediation be with us, Amen!
