Let us save our Social Life!
Alike times like this, in passing hardships, the life we make in unity with our families, relatives and neighbors is a strong bond and armament. Our Ethiopian forefathers have a proverb in the local language which is translated as “fifty lemons for fifty people, is jewelry; for one person, is a load.” The unity of people solves the extreme barricade.
The individual life we lead has its own consequences. Living in an apartment or isolated house lone, seeking and owning a silent surrounding, being in a state of earning an income and also leisure, having stable health devoid of any kind of illness and anticipate successful future, might only earn us temporary comfort; however in the long run brings many anxiety, distress, parting from God and spiritual failure.
The true life we lead accord the word of God and His commandments preserve from complications, passes predicaments and evil. It is when we are under the Lord’s roof we be protected from harm, nurtured and live a peaceful life in harmony with others. Our clear believed perceptions and creed is what aids in the right path.
Human’s social life is based on true love. The living we make by caring, sympathy, unity and love is accepted and cherished by The Loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and so Prophet David tell us, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
We are to do righteousness in our social lives and for this Saint Paul teaches saying “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” (Romans 12:15) If our social expedition is based on faith and truth, we will have good unison. Otherwise, we won’t be able to berry. “Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.” (Acts 2:44-46)
The Apostle stated about life of unity of Israelis in the Age of the Apostles; “Be of the same mind toward one another.” (Romans 12:16) Their lives were tied with one another, even shared possession and wealth. “Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need” it is stated. (Acts 4:34-35)
The social contribution we make shall be based on faith, within the unified and strengthened life as these Holy words are witness. Or else, the living we lead in qualm and indistinct perspective, the consequence is extreme. It also puts us in destitution and delinquency; thus, it is off the essence to decide firmly, in trepidation of God in the social life and unity with others, by the Love of Christ and love of neighbor by diligence in religion.
Brethren, we need to save our social life not just for solving tribulations but to live a peaceful, loving and delightful life with our creator God. It is always vial to remember the value of sociality in the orthodox community. Be good to other people; help one another in time of hardships, shelter those poor, nurture the beggars and support each other in being diligence in spiritual life.
May God’s mercy be upon us; Amen!
