Feast of Holy Trinity
The day Holy Trinity confound the language of all the earth and scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth making them leave off to build the city, Tir 7, is commemorated by our Holy Church. The city was called Babel in accordance.
It is written in the Holy Bible as follows: “The LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore, its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.” (Genesis 11፡1-9)
The Threeness and oneness of Holy Trinity is described in this chapter. Holy Trinity is one in Essence yet triple in person; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is eternally in God true unity, combined with genuinely personal differentiation: the term ‘essence’, ‘substance’, ‘being’, or ‘nature’ indicating the unity, and the term person indicates the differentiation. The Holy Father, The Holy Son, and The Holy Spirit are one in essence forming a single, unique, specific reality.
May God’s mercy, benevolence and blessing be with us, Amen!
