{"id":8729,"date":"2025-04-08T04:29:08","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T04:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eotcmk.org\/e\/?p=8729"},"modified":"2025-04-08T04:29:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T04:29:08","slug":"the-eighth-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eotcmk.org\/e\/the-eighth-month\/","title":{"rendered":"The Eighth Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<section  class='av_textblock_section av-m92uqn8x-d6d0c3129fcfe48272491355fd89861a '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Eighth Month<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Miyazia <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church teaching terms the eight month as \u201cMonth of Miyazia.\u201d Miyazia is derived from the Geeze word \u201cMehaze\u201d which means \u201cmaturation.\u201d\u00a0 It refers to \u201cgrowth, braveness, maturation and seeking for spouse.\u201d On this month, most Ethiopian use to wed and thus it is termed as Miyazia.<\/p>\n<p>Aleka Kidane Wolde\u2019s Geeze language dictionary explains it as follows; \u201cin our country, matrimony is not held on the month of Ginbot and then there were weedings ceremony on Miyazia. Therefore, the Month of Miyazia is a weeding season or month. (Kidane Wolde Dictionary page 587)<\/p>\n<p>The month is called Nisan by the westerns or in English is known as \u201cApril\u201d, a name derived from the Idol they worshiped called \u201cAphrodite.\u201d \u00a0Amongst the Romans, it is the fourth month and 45\/6 years before Birth of Christ use to be celebrated it on 29<sup>th<\/sup> day. But then now, it celebrated on the 30<sup>th<\/sup> day.<\/p>\n<p>The Lord, God has told the Israelis to commemorate this month as first. \u00a0He told Mosses and Aaron from Egypt saying, \u201cThis month\u00a0shall be\u00a0your beginning of months; it\u00a0shall be\u00a0the first month of the year to you.\u201d (Exodus 12:2) This is because it is the month the Israelis were liberated from Egyptian slavery. They came out of Egypt at 3844 B.C. On the fifth day; Prophet Mosses received the Ark of Covenant.<\/p>\n<p>During this time, the Israelis transferred from Law of Mindset to Law of Torah (Pentateuch<\/p>\n<p>Law). But when we come to Ethiopia, we were transferred from Law of Mindset (Pentateuch Law) after Minilik 1<sup>st<\/sup> brought Ark of the Covenant and Old Testament Books as well as the Levities Priest, before 1000 years B.C and after 593 years Mosses received the Ark of the Covenant.<\/p>\n<p>The Month of Miyazia, Meskerem are related seasons; This is the reason why Ethiopians made the Month of Meskerem the first of feasts.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has made order accordingly for the celebration of major feasts. We will mention some of them in this article.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Miyazia one is the departure day of Prophet Moses\u2019s bother Aaron.<\/li>\n<li>Miyazia five is the departure day of the Prophet Ezekiel. And the birthday of Saint Jared.<\/li>\n<li>Miyazia six is the departure day of the Egyptian Mary. It is also the commemoration day of ancient \u201cDagem Tinsaye\u201d, the day which Lord Jesus was revealed to the apostle Saint Thomas after His resurrection.
