The Era of Resurrection<\/strong><\/p>\n

The savior and redeemer of the world our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ\u2019s resurrection revealed on the Holy Sabbath day and onwards as the seventh day consequent to the Holiday of His rising is commemorated at our Ethiopian Orthodox Incarnation Church.<\/p>\n

The Following Day of Resurrection (Maidot), The Liberation from Hell (Tsehate Siol) <\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the day that souls were liberated from hell and the transgression of humans from death to life. Lord Jesus Christ exonerated souls who were in slavery of Satan in Hell and brought back Adam\u2019s and his grandchildren to their previous grace. On this holiday, we commemorate the freedom we were given back, the returning of our childhood, peace and the entry to heaven.<\/p>\n

Tuesday: Thomas <\/strong><\/p>\n

Although Lord Jesus\u2019s rising was revealed to the holy apostles, Saint Thomas was not there to witness His resurrection. Whilst the disciples told they have seen Him, he refused to accept it and uttered unless he witnessed Himself, was not able to believe His rising. \u201cother disciples therefore said to him, \u201cWe have seen the Lord.\u201d So he said to them, \u201cUnless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said,\u00a0\u201cPeace to you!\u201d\u00a0Then He said to Thomas,\u00a0\u201cReach your finger here, and look at My hands; and\u00a0reach your hand\u00a0here,<\/em>\u00a0and put\u00a0it\u00a0into My side. Do not be\u00a0unbelieving, but believing.\u201d (John 20:25-27) The commemoration of this miracle is on the next day of the Tuesday of the Resurrection.<\/p>\n

Wednesday: <\/strong>Lazarus<\/strong><\/p>\n

The word Lazarus means \u201cGod has helped.\u201d He is the brother of Mary and Martha that Lord Jesus rose from death. He was living in Bethany and was sick before he died. Lord Jesus was not there whilst it happened but knew he has died.\u00a0 So he said to the disciples \u201cLazarus is dead.\u00a0And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless, let us go to him.\u201d He then rose Lazarus who died four days ago. Lord Jesus\u2019s Christ\u2019s miracle is memorialized on this Wednesday. (John 11:11-44)<\/p>\n

Thursday: Adam\u2019s Thursday <\/strong><\/p>\n

Adam regretted his sin and repented that led to the vow of God for his salvation. He lived in sorrow and misery for defying the Lord\u2019s command. Then he was forgiven by God for he truly regretted sinning and his penance was accepted. So on this Thursday God\u2019s vow for Adam and the redemption of the world is commemorated for which is called Adam\u2019s Thursday.<\/p>\n

Friday: Holy Church\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

On this day is the commemoration of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ establishing Holy Church with His Holy Blood.\u00a0\u00a0 As it is written is the Book of Acts, \u201c<\/strong>Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit\u00a0has made you overseers, to shepherd the church\u00a0of God\u00a0Which He purchased\u00a0with His own blood.\u201d (Acts 20:28) This day is its commemoration.<\/p>\n

Saturday: Holy Women <\/strong><\/p>\n

These women are amongst the 120 family of God. they were the ones who first witnessed the resurrection of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But the angel answered and said to the women, \u201cDo not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>He is not here; for He is risen,\u00a0as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed\u00a0He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.\u201d So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. And\u00a0as they went to tell His disciples, behold,\u00a0Jesus met them, saying,\u00a0\u201cRejoice!\u201d\u00a0So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. (Matthew 28:5-9) Since it is the day that the Holy women are commemorated, the day was named accordingly.<\/p>\n

Sunday:\u00a0 Second Resurrection <\/strong><\/p>\n

On the Lord\u2019s first revelation to the apostles after His resurrection, Saint Thomas was nor present and thus was present in a closed room. He then said to them, \u201cPeace to you!\u201d\u00a0Then He said to Thomas,\u00a0\u201cReach your finger here, and look at My hands; and\u00a0reach your hand\u00a0here,\u00a0and put\u00a0it\u00a0into My side. Do not be\u00a0unbelieving, but believing.\u201d And Thomas answered and said to Him, \u201cMy Lord and my God!\u201d (John 20:26-28) This day is then called His second resurrection.<\/p>\n
