The parents of this Saint having begotten him, they raised him with the trepidation of God.\u00a0 At the age of his adulthood, he arrived at man\u2019s estate. \u00a0His elder brother who was a king heard of his inheritance of the kingdom. He sits upon his throne, jealous.\u00a0 He then sent and called him. When Saint Lalibela came, stood up before him and contrived a matter against him. After that, he commanded his servants to beat him with very many stripes, from the third hour of the day to the ninth hour. Soon after, he commanded them to set him before him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When the Saint stood up before him, the King and all his soldiers admired when they saw he wasn\u2019t injured; Now, the Angel of God had supported him. \u00a0Then the king said to him, \u201cForgive me, O my brother, for what I have done to thee\u201d; and then they made peace and were reconciled to each other.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">God saw the punishment, which he suffered that day, and He made him to inherit the kingdom. \u00a0Having become King he meditated on the things, which would please God, and he made many gifts to the poor and needy.\u00a0 When God saw the strength, the Angel of God appeared to him in a vision, and showed him how he was to build ten churches together, but each being different from the other. \u00a0He did as God showed him.
