His father\u2019s name is Priest\u00a0called Tsega Zeab or \u201cGift of Faith\u201d and his mother is Egzi&#8217;e Haraya meaning \u201cChoice of God, on January 2, 1220.\u201d His parents first couldn\u2019t have children and vowed for a child for they would bestow for the house of God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Abune Tekle Haimanot\u2019s name is driven from two words \u201cTekle\u201d or its English equivalent word \u201cPlant\u201d and \u201cHaimanot\u201d meaning \u201cReligion.\u201d \u201cPlant\u201d indicates fruitful wood, tree, spice, herb, edible, fragrant, herbicides and law.\u00a0 \u201cReligion\u201d is to believe and acknowledging the existence of God, the creator of all, the Unity and Trinity of God and the intercession of the Saints.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Holy Scripture entitled \u201cGedele Tekle Haimanot\u201d stated the name of the righteous as the Plant of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.\u201d On the third day of his birth, on a Sunday, at nine o&#8217;clock in the morning, he came down from his mother&#8217;s arms and said, \u201cOne Holy Son, The one True Spirit, One Father is Holy, One Son is holy, One is Holy Spirit is Holy.\u201d His parents gave them the name \u201cFish Tsion\u201d and \u201cTekle Haimanot\u201d was given to them by God&#8217;s angel Saint Michael.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During that era, Shewa was subject to a number of devastating raids by Matolomi, the pagan king of Damot, lay beyond the Jamma River. Matolomi abducted of Egzi&#8217;e Haraya. But then, she was reunited with Tsega Zeab by the help of the Archangel Michael. They escaped and whilst running away, Matolomi followed them and threw a spear; though who turned from them to his direction and killed him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The righteous father Abune Tekle Haimanot devoted himself to God his entire life. He became Deacon at the age of 15 and received Priesthood from the Egyptian bishop Abba Gerlos at the age of 22. He lived in solitude, fasting and prayer.
