Weeks of the Prophet\u2019s Fast<\/strong><\/p>\n

December 14, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

The weeks before the birth of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the prophets fast are called are called Sermon, Light, and Nolawi. The weeks before the birth of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the prophets fast are called are called Sermon, Light, and Nolawi. They are the resemblance of the time when prophets pleaded in hope for the salvation of human beings and God\u2019s mercy.<\/p>\n

Sermon (December 16- 22)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week is named after the notion of preaching of the prophets, who lived along with Prophet Moses, preaching about Lord Jesus Christ birth for the salvation of mankind. Moses also prophesied saying, \u201cThe\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.\u201d He told the people of Israel, When God the Son appeared in the flesh of Mary, He revealed Himself to be the Messiah spoken of by those prophets. \u201cMoses and all the prophets speak of me,\u201d he said. He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, \u201cWe have found the Messiah.\u201d Philip found\u00a0Nathanael and said to him, \u201cWe have found Him of whom\u00a0Moses in the law, and also the\u00a0prophets, wrote Lord Jesus\u00a0of Nazareth, the\u00a0son of Joseph.\u201d (John 1:41-45)<\/p>\n

Light (December 23- 27)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second week of Prophet\u2019s Fasts is called Light. It signifies the prophets who awaited and revealed God’s salvation through light. Before Lord Jesus was reveled, mankind lived in \u201cdarkness.\u201d Prophet David said, \u201cOh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to\u00a0Your holy hill And to Your\u00a0[<\/sup>a<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup>tabernacle.\u201d (Psalm 43:3) \u201cThen Jesus spoke to them again, saying,\u00a0\u201cI am the light of the world. He who\u00a0follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.\u201d (John 8:12)<\/p>\n

Nolawi (December 28- January 5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The term Nolawi describes a shepherd. As the prophets pleaded for the people of Israel and for the world to be gathered as their lost and their wandering sheep; Prophet David also said \u201cGive ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph\u00a0like a flock; you who dwell\u00a0between\u00a0the cherubim,\u00a0shine forth!\u201d (Psalm 80:1)<\/p>\n
