{"id":3988,"date":"2016-08-30T22:53:54","date_gmt":"2016-08-30T22:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eotcmk.org\/e\/the-ethiopian-orthodox-church-reclaims-its-confiscated-houses\/"},"modified":"2016-08-30T22:53:54","modified_gmt":"2016-08-30T22:53:54","slug":"the-ethiopian-orthodox-church-reclaims-its-confiscated-houses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eotcmk.org\/e\/the-ethiopian-orthodox-church-reclaims-its-confiscated-houses\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ethiopian Orthodox Church Reclaims Its Confiscated Houses"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div align=\"left\"> &nbsp; <b><i><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: georgia, palatino; color: #008080\">August 31, 2016<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/div>\n<div align=\"right\"> <span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #008080\"><i><b><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">By Tsegaye Girma<\/span><\/b><\/i><\/span> <\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"> <span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church reclaimed 28 houses which were confiscated from the Church during the nationalization program of the Dergue regime.<\/span> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"> <span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino\">Megabe Kahinat Haile Selassie Zemariam, director of department of clergy administration and chairman of houses and building joint committee,  which is tasked with returning the churches&rsquo; confiscated properties,  said the 28 confiscated houses were returned to the church from three  sub cities of Addis Ababa on August 25, 2016: 18 houses from Lideta sub  city, five from Yeka and another five from Kirkos sub cities. <\/span> <\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"> <span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino\"><br \/> He  also noted that based on the assessment of the committee, 283 buildings  of the church, which were seized by the Dergue regime, have been  identified in different sub cities of Addis.
